Hey everyone, here is the info for my show in February. I am reeeally looking forward to this show because there of the other talented artists involved. I cant wait to see what they have in store for the show.

If you don't follow my instagram no need to worry, I will have some teaser images on here this next week for you to check out! I will have close to twenty new pieces to feast your eyes on. ranging from small to large sizes. hope to see you there!

WWA gallery is giving everyone a great reason to come out of hibernation this February with the breakout show Critters & People: and Things of That Sort. Featuring new works from the young, exciting Los Angeles based artists, Danielle Buerli, JAW Cooper, Jessica LL Dalva, Tom Haubrick, Sinae Park and Bryce Takara, Critters and People will be another example of where the LA art scene is moving in this new year.

Featuring an extraordinary collection of 2D and 3D work, Critters & People is giving the 6 talented artists involved an opportunity to do what they do best. The result will be a cavalcade of new works running the gamut of styles and medium, but all centering around critters and people and things of that sort.

Open to the public, thegallery reception for Critters & People is from 8 - 11pm on Saturday, February 18th. The exhibition will run until March 10th, 2012.

Hey everyone!. So a new year is upon us and with it comes good news...

January and February both bring new shows!!

I have a piece this month at the WWA Gallery in Culver City in the about face show.

And next Month I will be exhibiting again with WWA next to four other very talented artists in a show titled Critters and People and Things of That Sort

Reflections - part 1-

Hey everyone! It has been quite a while since I've posted on here, and i must admit that I do miss writing on here. I opened up a tumblr account and have fallen to the madness of instagram. It s so much quicker to just post dumb pictures on there( I apologize to the non iphone users who follow my work. forgive me for the neglect.) I usually am a man of few words, so it takes a lot to write on this jumbled mess i call a blog. I haven't rambled on here for quite some time, so I hope you enjoy and continue reading THANK YOU, by the way, for the overwhelming amount of support of my last book, Drifters 2. (I am getting close to being out of the few copies I have left.) now on to the updates..

I've been keeping myself quite busy these last few months with work and side projects of the sort. I have a couple great shows, im involved in, within the next couple months. so keep a look out for them and I hope to see some of you there.

Recently I have ventured onto another self motivated project, titled... Reflections. It started with a series of symmetrical drawings to pass the time (seen on my instagram and facebook), but they quickly turned into a new book idea. I had a lot of fun with this project, trying to make each drawing different from the last. The majority of the book is skull based but I threw in a few hanya masks to keep it interesting. I've always been quite a fan of drawing skulls, so this definitely fueled the idea behind the book. The artwork is quite a turn away from what i draw "normally", but where would I be without experimentation? This last year I have been trying to push past my comfort level and make something more of my tattoo work, and this is part of the direction i am taking it in. so bare with me. I am pretty proud of the outcome and will continue in this fashion of tattoo work. they will be going on sale tomorrow afternoon here and on my store.

Yes it is that time again, and things are getting really exciting, real quickly around here. It definitely has been one of the most stressful pre comic con months I can remember. On top of preparing for Comic con , I am in the middle of moving into a new apartment, compiled with the summer tattoo rush at work. it has been fun none the less and i am ready for this week. But yes back to the good stuff... I have a lot of great news to share with everyone this year, about the con so ill just get started

Sunday afternoon I will be doing a book signing at the Zero Friends Booth!! I'm pretty excited becuase this is the first signing I will be doing outside of my own booth at Comic Con!!! Hell Yes and I am super excited that it is at Alex Pardee's Zero Friend Booth. those guys are amazing and have the best stuff for sale.

I will be signing form 3-4 pm with artists Travis Louie, Ken Garduno, and DrilOne.

Barcelona

Barcelona was amazing. I just got back into town last night, and I wanted to post up some highlights of my trip before i get back to work tomorrow. It has definitely inspired me to keep traveling out side of the country, so I have to start saving again. There were so many great things to see, but i mainly took tons of pictures of buildings and the cityscapes. I definitely have to thank my girlfriend's friends Ivan and Kim. They helped us translate and guide us around for a couple days, before we got our bearings, and we such great people to hang out with while we were there. Thanks guys!

In order to keep this blog rolling I'm dedicating time each week to a comic for you all. I will post them on here until i sit down and make another blog to post them. I tried to keep the shading minimal on this one to keep it quick as i am still getting used to the digital illustrating. I'm having a lot of fun doing these. I have a couple sketched out, and just need to finalize images and dialogue, so more next week...

digital illusrations?????

oh no he didn't!! some of you might say?? Yes, I know... its a bit of a change but I've had a little while to do some experimenting and try something new. By no means am I switching to paint this way but as some of you may know, I am starting to venture into doing my own comic book. I want to be able to handle coloring in my own pieces. It's something I have been meaning to do for quite a while now, and i am finished talking about it so now I am and DOING it! Its taking me a little while to get something together since I am not a writer, and I tend over analyze everything I do about a hundred times over. So, please bear with me and I will have something solid for you and the rest of the world this summer. (in time for Comic Con!!!!)

Here is a drawing that got rejected for a tattoo i was going to do. The sheet in the second image was drawn in photoshop but i still liked the sketch. We went in a totally different direction, but I still like the drawings. I'm sure I will use them for something else.

This last weekend i took part in a show about comedians over at Gallery 1988. The show was a great success and there was an amazing turnout. This was that piece I made for the show of one of my favorite comedians/actors, Jerry Seinfeld!! this was a lot of fun and I hope do do a few more portraits soon.

Hey everyone! First of all i just wanted to say happy new year! It's been a crazy year and I am sad to see it come to an end. I hope this year is just as full of excitement and adventure. i wanted to take a moment and thanks for everyone who reads this and had been buying my artwork, you make this all worthwhile. I was recently asked to be part of a great magazine composed of many talented artists and writers from the Los Angeles area, called The Amor Fati. The people were really great to work with and i was very excited to be part of this book. This 3rd issue is about secrets and really does fit with the theme of a lot of my work. they used a good number of some of my older pieces which worked out great. thanks again guys!!

It is a little hard to find this book, since it is only available at local area bookstores, but they make it really easy to purchase on their site.

so i was told by a couple people that i was in the back section of the new issue of Juxtapoz.today i finally got around to picking up the issue. Traveling

Some of you may know this last month was full of traveling for me. First i went to new york for a gallery opening at sacred art gallery and then i stayed the week to sight see. I ate pizza everyday. there are so many great little spots out there i had to try most of them. Luckily it wasn't raining to bad most of the days so we did a ton of walking to make up for it. I found a lot of new spots to check eat at next time I'm out there. I really can not wait to go back. I took some pictures of my favorite sights, and friends but if you haven't figured it out yet I'm still not that good of a photographer. Enjoy!

The week after that it was off to San Francisco for the dino show at double punch gallery, and the alternative press expo. I had a booth up there with my good friends Ken Garduno and Emilio Santoyo. I was glad to see so many familiar faces and was privileged enough to meet so many new people this year. Good seeing the awesome brothers from color ink book, Skinner, Alex Pardee, Mike Bertino, Drew Beckmeyer, and many more. I must say, one of the highlights of the trip was both hotels i stayed at were relatively inexpensive and pretty huge! if you are like me you love staying in hotel rooms and when you get a good one you are in paradise. Bummer though, i did not spend any time in the rooms other then sleeping.*** You must do yourself a favor and go to dynamo donuts if you are ever in the mission district. amazing!

last night was the show down in Laguna beach was a great time down in a beautiful city with great people. wish i had more time to walk around and check out the beaches but the 2 hour drive there wiped me out. i want to say thanks Suzanne and Stephanie at notion gallery for having me in the show! and with such an awesome line up i couldn't pass it up. i hate doing it but i had a couple older pieces in the show since it was kind of short notice, but here is the new piece i did for it.

all right so i've finally set up my mobile blogging option on here. so hopefully i will be blogging alot more frequently with pics. things have been pretty hectic around these parts.
1) i'm getting ready for comic con once again. im putting a couple zines together one with a bunch of friends and one full of new drawings. also will have a couple new prints available.
2) i've got a few shows coming up so i have been painting like a madman these last couple weeks. then getting ready for some larger woks when i get back from comic con. ill be posting some of those up here this week.
3) been working on some larger tattoos i haven't gotten pictures of but i will post some of those up here as well for you guys.
so yes i'm up to my ears with work. i wouldn't have it any other way.so heres a little teaser of the new zine.

i have a new show coming up next month!! A great show with GREAT artists and really good friends of mine, Ken Garduno and Andrew Hem. I can't wait !!!! it's in Laguna so i will also finally have a reason to go down there and get tofu mushroom burgers from this local spot i havent been to in many years. thanks Suzanne for putting this together! here is the flier...

i did this piece for another gallery 1988 show, and wanted to try something a little bit different this time. I always loved the show, but couldn't really pick my favorite episode, so i went with a portrait of Rod Serling instead. below is the flyer for the show. there are some great artists in the mix so come on out and i will see you there!

Yesterday was a sad day for me. Frank Frazetta the first artist i started to obsessively follow in my younger years, died of a stroke. To this day i still am amazed with this man's work, and collect any book of his i can get my hands on. Hopefully one day i can actually pick up and original. thanks for the years of inspiration Mr. Frazetta. you will be missed...

I had a blast in Frisco this weekend. here's some pics of the trip. went up to sacramento for the sac con on sunday,but stayed up north all weekend. i had a table there next to my friend ken, and saw some pretty interesting stuff. over all it was a lot of fun, but just makes me want to be at comic con already.

New Year News

Hey everyone happy new year and all that good stuff!
So as you know I'm starting the new year off great with a show this weekend at subtext gallery with my friends ken garduno and eric davison. I have up 17 new pieces for the show, and i must say, with ken and eric's work this is going to be one hell of a show.
My next plan is to update the website with new artwork and tattoos. Then I'm going to put up some older affordable pieces on the store so i can get them out of storage and into your hands. i can't afford an assistant quite yet so you got to be patient with me haha. I'm a one man show here. going to be at a tattoo convention next weekend and got a couple other comic conventions lined up soon too. more info soon.

last weekend i had a show over at crewest gallery in downtown la,and i put up these three pieces. my friends at two rabbits printed them up for me and they came out pretty sick. I only did a small run of each and i have been selling out pretty fast at the gallery. I only have a few left on my etsy store. get em while u can !

Hey everyone! October sure has been one crazy month... lets see... i did two conventions back to back weekends in l.a. and then up in san francisco, i ate the most amazing doughnut in my life up in s.f., movie hopped 4 movies in one day, celebrated my tattoo shop's 5 year anniversary, made and sold out of my first handmade zine, started my etsy store, and i finally went skydiving. in between i have been slaving away with projects and tattoos on the side. going to be putting up some new tattoo work and illustrations just need to sit down and resize all the pictures.

i've got a few great shows coming up also. this month i have one at the crewest gallery in l.a. going to be doing my first screen prints for this show. excited about this one. and im proud to announce that i will be having a group show in january with my two good friends ken garduno and eric davison, more info to follow soon.

Here is the new zine I did for A.P.E. all hand made and printed by myself. gocco printed covers on rives bfk. It is a collection of 10 small drawings, called two weeks. i only did 10 of these badboys for the expo and they will be gone soon. I will making more in a couple weeks but they will be much different from the first printing.

I'm going to be going up to San Francisco next weekend, October 17th and 18th, for the Alternative Press Expo. I haven't been up since last years expo and i hope this years is just as fun. You can find me at table 541 with ken garduno, selling the remaining prints from comic con along with a couple more ,aaaaaaand a little something im making especially for the convention.

La Dubla strikes again! last comic con we put together another zine for the world to gaze their eyes upon. this time we asked a few more of our friends to join in and make this zine one of the best ones we've put out so far.

Back To Work

After pretty much a month vacation i am back to work full time with my hands full of catching up to do. comic con was amazing as always. saw celebrities, sold some artwork and prints, went to some tron arcade thing, and even saw wolverine talking on a cell phone.

i can't wait until next year. but at least until then there is A.P.E in october...

Last week i just returned from a week long vacation to Portland to visit my good friend Matt. my second time there but definitely not the last. Met some great people, had some great times. After i arrived we visited my friend angela in a little town called astoria on the coast of portland. i thought it sounded familiar and low and behold i find out thats were most of the goonies movie was filmed! one of my all time favorite movies as a kid.

and here are the rocks also seen in goonies. these were a bit south of astoria.

here's a couple pictures from the hiking trip we took to a place called indian heaven. beautiful but after the trip i was covered from head to toe with mosquito bites. well worth it.

i miss it already.

Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy been a while. so i have some shows coming up in the next two weeks. got one this Thur at 1988 for their crazy for cult show. after that Fri i head out to the Pomona tattoo convention. I'm going to be getting my tattoos on and making some money to spend that week because on Wednesday the 22nd i head down to comic con for the rest of the week. Friday the 24th i have show in San Diego at subtext gallery. going to be a great show about super heroes. cant wait! i will be posting the pieces for those shows after i get back, along with other pieces ive been holding back on posting.

PRINTS ARE COMING!!!!! i will be doing a short run for comic con to sell down there. and when i get back i will be making a few more.

so its been a busy few months at the tattoo shop, and I've been getting some larger more interesting pieces for my portfolio. I've got a couple shows coming up and have been getting ready for comic con in July. basically I've had my hands full for a while but this summer you will be seeing all the fruits of my labor.

Yes! i will finally be making prints this summer A couple small ones and a few larger ones. I'm still in the middle of deciding which pieces im going to go with. ( if you have any requests let me know. )

Below is a tattoo i did last year but somehow i kept neglecting to put it up. the image was drawn out specifically for Greg's arm. the darker image is one that i took at the shop and the lighter one is a photo of the healed tattoo he took. i definitly need to take more photography lessons. anyone got any tips?

i gotta say thanks again Greg! sorry it took so long to get this baby on here.

a bit of a different style for today. i painted a fun design for the tattoo shop to be used for our banner at conventions. i also drew up another version for t shirts we are selling. i haven't worked in color for a while so it was a great change of pace. i will be doing more of these illustrations in the weeks to come because im putting together a set of tattoo flash. once i have them ready to sell i will preview them on here as well. i know some say i should stick to one style but i just cant seem to do that. i have too much fun and like to keep my self challenged in doing so. maybe coming up with a pseudo name is the best route. until then i will keep putting up my tattoo style stuff on here. thanks for looking

New York and San Francisco

Early September i traveled to new york for the first time. simply amazing. i went to go sight see, eat a lot of great food, and took way too many pictures of amazing buildings. i hope next time to return with more business endeavors in mind. i didn't do too much drawing while i was there, but i caught up on some much needed reading and relaxing.

This last weekend (Nov 1st and 2nd) i visited San Francisco for the second time for the Alternative Press Expo. i shared a booth up there with my good friend Ken Garduno. Besides it raining like cats and dogs it was a great weekend. i unfortunately forgot my camera back at work so i missed out on some great picture opportunities. i was glad though that we were able to put together another mini book for a.p.e. it is part two of bargain bin comics. it contains work from Eric Davison, Travis jackson, Ken Garduno, Matt Espatman, and myself. here are a few of the images from the book.

we made 50 of them and they are going for 5 dollars. if you would like to purchase one let me know. i do orders through paypal.

so i have some reeeeeeally Great news everyone. This last week i was featured in the latest issue of HI FRUCTOSE magazine!! Im really stoked about this, being a reader of this mag for quite a while now. its been hard holding my tongue about this.( dont know if i should have actually ) but i wanted to wait and surprise you. haha. its a quarterly mag so it should be on the news stands for a few months. i also tried to have my new website up before the article came out cuz it is a few years over due but i am having more problems then i thought working with the new dreamweaver. for now just keep checking here, the flickr page, or my myspace for new work until i get a little help getting that to work.
